Three Days 100 acres!
This week Archer 2.1 debuted with astounding success! Over the course of three days of amazing Washington weather we covered more than 100 acres of Dyes inlet (near Silverdale) in high resolution side scanning sonar.
Combing through the data we located numerous interesting objects, and we will surely be back for a closer look. Most interesting of all is what appears to be a very old, wooden, ship wreck, possibly from the mosquito fleet era of Puget Sound’s history!
That being said the primary goal of this test was not to actually survey but to prove the capability of the overall Archer system to conduct back to back days of data collection and analysis. This was a resounding success and gave us invaluable insight into what day to day operations will include.
We identified key improvements to our pre and post survey processes and pushed the platform to its absolute limits of endurance, control range, and maneuverability.
This week was also an opportunity to meet with our neighbors, here in Kitsap county, and share our purpose, capability, and vision with them. We had many inquisitive folks come down to ask us what exactly we were doing out on the dock with our cases and equipment.
Overall, three days very well spent and many more to come!
